Live Edge Wood FAQs

  • What does it look like?
Live Edge wood is from a whole slab of a tree, with a natural free edge on one or both sides of the surface. Live edge can be incorporated into countertops, bars and is a popular table top surface.
  • What can I expect?
Live Edge tops are very low maintenance. As with all wood products you can expect some seasonal acclimation and movement in the wood. This is normal and will not affect the structural integrity of your top. Please see the "Care" section of our website for detailed care and maintenance instructions.
  • What are the finish options?
Live Edge tops can be stained with any of our standard wood stains or with a custom color match. We also offer cerused, gray and white wash options. We are able to fill cracks with resin filler or butterfly joinery to stabilize and flatten the surface. We can also design live edge products in custom shapes and layouts.
  • Is your online inventory up to date? How do I make a special order?
We try to keep our online inventory as current as possible. We do, however, advise that you confirm that your choice is available before making and design decisions. It is strongly recommended that you make a visit to our showroom in Mt. Kisco to get a tour of our full inventory and select the wood slab(s) that work best for your project. We can shop for slabs that meet specific needs of your next project. Richard Brooks will source wood from our trusted suppliers and will forward photos for approval. We require a 50% deposit of your order before slabs are purchased. These orders require a longer lead-time for getting the wood to our shop.
  • How do I get pricing? How long does it take to receive my order?
Please see our Quotes section to fill out a form or email your exact specifications to Quotes@BrooksCustom.com Lead times are generally 4 weeks after signed shop drawings are received.
  • What is the Warranty?
All Live Edge products come with a full one year warranty. Brooks Custom will repair or replace, at their option, any product determined to be faulty due to manufacturing defects. Products not installed by Brooks Custom must be returned to our showroom. Incidental work or adjacent materials are not included in the warranty coverage. All shipped products must be removed from their crates and inspected within 24 hours of arrival. Any shipping damage claims must be made within that time frame. Sales are final on all finished products left in our showroom for over 90 days.
