Artisan Cast FAQ

  • What is Artisan Cast?
Artisan Cast metal consists of 80% metal and 20% resin. The metal coating is applied to a solid waterproof surface which creates a durable tough finish that behaves like cast or sheet metal.
  • How do Artisan Cast products compare to sheet metal or cast products?
Artisan Cast products will not have the superior durability of sheet metal or hot metal casting. Artisan Cast products are wonderful materials for both commercial and residential projects. Artisan Cast products cost a fraction of the cost of traditional sheet metal or cast metal products. Artisan Cast products will have the same material properties as sheet metal, the living surface of the product will age and patina over time just as a sheet metal or cast metal product would.
  • Does the surface scratch?
Yes. Scuffs and scratches will appear on the metal. The frequency and severity of the marks will depend on the finish you choose. For example, copper and aluminum are softer metals and will scratch easily, whereas nickel and stainless are harder metals and more difficult to scratch.
  • Is the product repairable?
Yes! Artisan Cast products are repairable on-site. For any deep scratches and severe dings, we can schedule a technician to repair and blend the affected area. Service calls result in reducing and minimizing the appearance of the affected areas. We cannot promise that it will look perfect.
