We’re honored to, once again, have our work featured in Westchester Home. The Winter 2016 issue features a traditional kitchen with modern elements, in a home in Yorktown, NY. The home was designed by architect Robin Prince Zahn, and the kitchen designed with Paula Greer, of Bilotta Kitchens.
This was not an easy project; as this extensive renovation involved completely relocating the kitchen to another area of the home to maximize space and improve the flow of the home.
The new kitchen has a traditional layout that is infused with modern materials to create a unique, crisp, aesthetic that fits in with the lush country setting of the property.
Though Brooks Custom’s contribution to this project is somewhat small, the walnut butcher block adds great warmth and depth to the overall style of the kitchen.
According to the article, the homeowners wanted a funtional kitchen in addition to it being stylish:
They also wanted practicality, which is why the Saffoses sought a maintenance-free material for the counters. This made Caesar Stone the perfect choice.
The result is a kitchen the homeowners can enjoy whether it’s just the two of them having morning coffee or a cocktail party with neighbors, friends, and family.
With the addition of the walnut cutting board, the homeowners have a functional work surface for preparing foods or cutting garnishes for cocktail parties. Matching the eased edge of the stone island top enhances the modern look of the room.
The rich color of the walnut works well with the contemporary, neutral tones present throughout the kitchen. The wood top is anchored to the same wood tone used on the railing upstairs, which integrates the style of the kitchen with the rest of the house.
